Dating back hundreds of years, the Turkish towel was made to be worn for privacy in Turkish baths. Bathers would enter a series of increasingly hot, dry rooms then wash off in cold water. Just like the towels from the old baths, Turkish towels today are made from locally available Turkish cotton, which has especially long fibers. As the fiber length increases, the towel becomes softer and feels silky. Due to the hand looming process, this long staple cotton results in a smoother towel that has the special ability to get softer with age. Long staple cotton also happens to be highly absorbent and bulk-free. This allows the Turkish towels to dry faster than thicker towels. ~ Superior Long-Staple Turkish Cotton Impeccably Soft & Silky Feel Amazingly Absorbent & Quick Drying Bulk Free ~ The Lost & Leisure Story (so far!) We?re Alec & Brian! We love spending time in the water with friends and family. Whether in the ocean or the pool, we were always looking for a quick and easy way to get dry! Beach towels do a great job of drying off but they are bulky, making them too heavy and cumbersome to bring surfing or in a backpack. Microfiber towels feel artificially soft and cheap, and lack character. We imagined a premium changing towel that we could bring on any aquatic adventure. One day the idea of Turkish changing towels popped into our heads. We found a supplier in Turkey still producing cotton Turkish towel fabric on hand looms. When the samples arrived, the fabric was just as soft, lightweight, and bulk free as we’d imagined. That’s how L&L began!
